Canadian Experience Class

Canadian Experience Class

Upon Graduation

Graduation is a time of transition for every student. But international students must think carefully about their next steps because their study permits expire shortly after graduation.

As you approach the end of your studies, you’ll be faced with an important question: Should I remain in Canada?

If you decide that you’d like to stay in Canada after you complete your program, you have a few options to consider. Three pathways to immigration [[link to Pathways to Immigration page]] are available to international students who decide to become permanent residents of Canada in the province of Ontario.

  • Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (OPNP)
  • Canadian Experience Class
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program

Applying For Permanent Residence

Graduates planning to apply for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class, should start preparing for the application process up to 3 years before the application submission date.

Job Categories

There are specific job categories that are acceptable by Citizenship and immigration Canada (CIC). If you are able to acquire at least one year of work experience in a skilled, professional or technical field, you may become eligible to enter the Express Entry pool.

Applications

For applications to be considered in this category you must have Canadian skilled work experience within three years of completing your application.
