If you are graduating from a PhD program the Federal Skilled Worker Program may be for you. Some graduates apply to this program in order to remain in Canada and acquire permanent residence status. This program considers applicants who are skilled professionals with qualifications and work experience that falls under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes 0, A or B. Applications for this program are submitted through Express Entry process and are assessed using a points system, there are six selection factors under this system, language (English and/or French), education, work experience, age, arranged employment and adaptability.  Applications are submitted to the Express Entry Immigration system and those selected will gain permanent resident status.  Learn more about the Federal Skilled Worker program.
